| Golf Club Components
The main golf club components are the grip,
shaft, and head. The grip is the part you hold, golf club
heads are the parts that hit the ball, and the golf club shaft
is the part that joins the grip and the head.
The grip on the golf club shaft is very
important because it keeps the club in the golfer's hands.
Grips can be made of rubber or leather, with a variety of
small grooves, holes, or ridges. These are all designed to
make it easier for the golfer to hold onto the club. There are
different sizes of grips to accommodate hand sizes and grip
styles. Most experts agree that the best material and design
are a matter of personal preference.
Golf club shafts connects the grip to the head.
Most golf club shafts are made of steel or a resin and carbon
fiber composite. Carbon fiber is lighter than steel, but clubs
with carbon-fiber shafts tend to be more expensive. Many players
say that hitting a golf ball with a carbon-fiber shaft feels
somewhat different than hitting the ball with a steel shafted
club. There also varying degrees of stiffness, but this is up to
the preference of the individual. Most golfers prefer a shaft
that is stiffer.Golf club heads are
where all the energy of the swing is directly transferred over
to the golf ball. There is a lot of variation in golf club
heads, but most fall into three categories: putters, woods, and
irons. Woods have the biggest heads of any golf club, irons are
made for a larger variety of shots than woods, and a putter
head's main purpose is to to hit the golf ball perpendicular to
the ground, and make the ball roll until it falls nicely into a
hole (we hope). Whatever set of clubs you purchase, make sure to
take each of these golf club components in mind.
