Visit bit.ly to learn more about training for a career in golf. Ted Norby, Director of Instruction for National University Golf Academy, discusses and demonstrates proper driver stance when using longer clubs. To discuss this golf tip with other golfers and share your own leave a comment below. We look forward to your feedback. ******************************************************** Dialog from the video ******************************************************** The basic golf swing we want to have the same between the irons and the driver. The difference is is we move the driver forward in the stance I now want to catch the ball slightly on the upswing. The problem occurs when we put the ball forward in our stance most people have a tendency to lean out toward the ball. Everything we do in everyday life, reading, being on the computer, eating, is right in front of our face. As we hear that the ball is supposed to go forward in our stance, with the longer clubs, my face has a tendency to go to the ball. And as my face and my head go forward, that puts me in a position where I'm actually hitting slightly down on the ball. We need to fight that by tilting our spin the other way. Think of your tailbone kind of pointing at your left heel and your head a little bit closer to that right thigh. Jack Nicolas, when you hit is driver, when he was playing great, his head his face was all the way back on his right knee at address. As I get tilted this way that allows me to catch it ...

To discuss this golf tip with other golfers and share your own leave a comment below. We look forward to your feedback. ******************************************************** Dialog from the video ******************************************************** Hi I'm Dr. Sarah Castillo and I'm the Director of the Sports Psychology Program at National University. I'd like to spend just a few seconds talking about the importance of effective thinking. There's been a lot said about how important it is to think positively and to speak positively to your self. The truth is it doesn't really matter whether your talk positive or negative. Both can lead to great performances. The key is whether your thinking is effective. Effective thinking makes you want to continue, it makes you want to stay on the course even when things are getting hard, even under adverse conditions. Effective thinking is going to help you maintain control over your strategy. It's going to help you consider some reasonable alternative and it's going to help you to trust your game. ******************************************************** ******************************************************** We're also on Facebook at bit.ly © Copyright National University System 2012

Visit bit.ly to learn more about training for a career in golf. Chris Mayson, Professional Golf Instructor at La Costa Resort and Spa, explains how to sequence the golf club properly with the stop at the top drill. To discuss this golf tip with other golfers and share your own leave a comment below. We look forward to your feedback. ******************************************************** ******************************************************** Hi, I'm Chris Mayson and I'm a professional golf instructor from La Costa Resort and Spa. A lot of people ask me how to sequence the club properly. A lot of amateurs have a tendency to get to the top of the swing and use the shoulders to go first. But great players can hit the ball effortlessly and far by working from the ground up as their legs drive first and their club comes in sight. The technical sequencing is, the club has the furthest to go. So it's going to move to the left hand, left arm's going to follow, it's going to pull your shoulder, your left lat, your left thigh and your left knee all the way up to the top. Then from the ground up, goes from the exact opposite order on the way down. Weight is going to go into your left foot, your left knee's going to move, it's going to pull your left thigh, your left hip, your lat, your shoulder, your left arm. The last thing that's going to come is the club. Now, it's very easy for a good player to do because they naturally do it but the amateur has a hard time to do it. So ...

Visit bit.ly to learn more about training for a career in golf. Chris Mayson, Professional Golf Instructor at La Costa Resort and Spa, explains how to practice your golf swing like Happy Gilmore. To discuss this golf tip with other golfers and share your own leave a comment below. We look forward to your feedback. ******************************************************** ******************************************************** Hi I'm Chris Mayson. I'm a professional golf instructor and La Costa Resort and Spa. Amateurs have a really hard time transferring their weight from the top of their golf swing. Their weight goes back, they have a hard time getting to their front foot, the club comes over the top and as a result they either hit pulls or big slices. Great players and professional golfers go from the ground up their weight goes into their front foot and the club can work to the inside. An easy drill for improving your weight transference is stepping into the shot, almost like a Happy Gilmore shot. So as you work back, left foot is going to go back, you're going to plant the left foot to start with, and then the club's going to come through. Should look something like this. Try stepping into your shot. This will improve your sequencing, it will get the weight transferring into your front foot, and the club will come last. ******************************************************** ******************************************************** We're also on Facebook at bit.ly ...

Visit bit.ly to learn more about training for a career in golf. Chris Mayson, Professional Golf Instructor at La Costa Resort and Spa, explains how to improve your golf swing with the right foot back drill. To discuss this golf tip with other golfers and share your own leave a comment below. We look forward to your feedback. ******************************************************** ******************************************************** Hi I'm Chris Mayson, Professional Golf Instructor at La Costa Resort and Spa. Great players are able to get their weight to the front foot and the club on plane on the way down. This gives them a really solid strike because they can hit off of a really firm front leg. Amateurs have a tendency to stand on their back foot and come over the top. Here's a great drill to get you feeling like you're on your front foot while coming from the inside. It's called the right foot back drill. For right handers, bring your front foot forward a little bit and your back foot back. What this is going to allow you to do is get your weight to your front foot and get the club working from the inside on the way down. Keep about 70% of your weight on your front foot, get the club working to the inside. It should look like this. If you do it properly you'll compress the ball, your weight will be on your front foot, the club will come to the inside. It should start from the right for a right hander, and draw back to the left. Try the right foot back drill, I'm ...
